La comunità maker che anima WeMake non può, in questo periodo di emergenza dovuta alla diffusione del Covid-19, venire nel fablab e makerspace come prima per portare avanti progetti, scambiare suggestioni, condividere le proprie scoperte ascoltando quelle degli altri. In questi giorni è di nuovo possibile, secondo precise modalità, accedere all’uso delle macchine. Il “fare a casa” rimane ancora diffuso per molti maker.

Sara lavora come designer per WeMake dove collabora anche come docente di moda digitale. Siamo abituati a vederla impegnata con la macchina più usata del fablab, la lasercutter. 

Negli ultimi mesi si è dovuta separare dalle macchine e dal “making”, e, per dirlo con parole sue, “il lockdown ci ha costretti ad affrontare l’insegnamento in streaming di tutti i corsi che avevamo in calendario!”. Un grande lavoro realizzato a tempi di record da parte dello staff! “Mantenere il livello formativo del corso in presenza nel passaggio all’online è stata una bella sfida, ma alla fine è stato un successo! Almeno, così pensiamo di poter dire, dato che il numero di studenti è costantemente aumentato nei corsi che abbiamo tenuto per Fastweb Digital Academy: Digital Fashion Making, Cartamodelli digitali con Seamly2D e Marvelous Design e Clo3D per la moda”.

In attesa di riprendere a pieno ritmo con le normali attività del fablab, il lockdown e l’insegnamento in streaming ci hanno portati a una collaborazione con Susan Spencer, la creatrice del software open source Seamly2D! A luglio Sara Savian tiene il nuovo corso Digital patternmaking with Seamly2D in partnership con la Spencer in lingua inglese! Un tassello in più che va nella direzione di promuovere le competenze digitali, in questo caso, nel campo della Digital Fashion.

#12 Sara Savian, the challenge of online teaching and the new partnership with Susan Spencer from Seamly2D | #DigitalFashion

Sara works as a designer for WeMake where she also works as a digital fashion teacher. We are used to see her working with the most used machine of the fablab, the lasercutter.

Past months she had to separate herself from the machines and the “making”, and, to put it in her own words, “the lockdown forced us to face the streaming teaching of all the courses we had on the calendar!” A great job done in record time by the staff! “Maintaining the training level of the course in presence in the transition to online was a great challenge, but in the end it was a success! We can say so as the number of students has steadily increased in the courses we held for Fastweb Digital Academy: Digital Fashion Making, Digital Patterns with Seamly2D and Marvelous Design and Clo3D for fashion“.

Waiting to resume at full speed with the normal fablab activities, lockdown and streaming teaching led us to a collaboration with Susan Spencer, the creator of the open source software Seamly2D! In July Sara Savian holds the new Digital patternmaking course with Seamly2D in partnership with Spencer in English! An extra piece that goes in the direction of promoting digital skills, in this case, in the field of Digital Fashion.
